It sounds like the both of you are confused. I know your question sure as hell confused me! I get the impression that your in a long distance relationship and your boyfriend is trying to be honest with you. I think times are going to be rough and you will both have to do a great job at communication. He shouldn't be ignoring your attempts to contact him. Perhaps, he is afraid to talk with you or doesn't want to get you upset. If so, that's a shame! You two should be able to talk to each other about anything and should do more talking now more then ever with the distance between you.
