Would Cardinal O'Brien be better off attacking the sectarianism that is ravaging his country?

Sectarianism makes people far more likely to be religious. You don't want to be seen as an enemy to BOTH sides, or be out on your own, so you tend to stick with a religion for the safety in numbers it brings, even if you don't honestly believe a word of it. Secularism makes people more likely to have no religion. It's not about peace and prosperity - it's about bullying as many people into choosing a side as possible.
